Above: 10 Rules Actress Gal Gadot Had To Follow To Keep Her Acting Role As Wonder Woman.
Gal Gadot’s name has become synonymous with her on-screen characterization of Wonder Woman – or what many have dubbed the long-awaited embodiment of female power within a male dominated universe (both literally and thematically). So much so that her youngest daughter is apt to announce on the playground that her mother is, in fact, the iconic superhero.
Though her live-action portrayal of the Amazonian warrior would not come until many years later, Gadot’s early life resembles what one might dream up for a young heroine. In 2004, she was chosen as Miss Israel and represented her country in the subsequent Miss Universe pageant. Though she looked the part, Gadot was less than interested in the scepter-toting responsibilities that come with the Miss Universe Crown. She went on to serve as a soldier in the Israeli Defense Forces for two years as a combat trainer before officially pursuing a modeling and acting career. Continue reading →

In Wonder Woman, Lucy Davis, the phenomenal British actress and comedian, plays Etta Candy, Diana’s best friend in the comics and Steve Trevor’s secretary (and an ultimate comic relief) in the Wonder Woman movie. Lucy Davis talks about her top secret movie audition, being a different size than women we normally see in superhero movies, and whether her character has a future in the Wonder Woman movie franchise.
Etta Candy is a fictional character appearing in DC Comics publications and related media, commonly as the best friend of the superhero Wonder Woman. A spirited, vivacious young woman, Etta first appeared in Sensation Comics #2 (1942), written by Wonder Woman’s creator William Moulton Marston.
Enrolled in the fictional Holliday College for Women (and often accompanied by her fellow students, “the Holliday Girls”), Etta would become a constant feature of Wonder Woman’s Golden Age (1938-1955) adventures, effectively functioning as both the hero’s sidekick and her best friend. Unapologetically proud of her plus size figure (and vocal about her love of sweets), Etta’s appearance was a stark contrast to the svelte, small waisted women depicted in most comic books, and Etta was a brave and heroic leader who was always supporting her friend Wonder Woman.

Though appearing less frequently in the Silver (1956-1970) and Bronze Age (1970-1984), Etta was a recurring presence in Wonder Woman’s supporting cast throughout both periods. Etta would be re-imagined in March 1987 by comics writer and artist George Pérez as part of his reboot of the Wonder Woman mythology.

Which do you think is more difficult: walking down a fashion runway in high heels and lingerie while wearing a pair of massive, heavy Victoria’s Secret Angel wings or stabbing a soldier with a sword while simultaneously riding on horseback down a beach? For any normal human being, each of those options likely sounds pretty terrifying. However, if you’re Dutch supermodel Doutzen Kroes, it is just an average day at work.
The former Victoria’s Secret Angel has a small role in the $821+ million dollar (in worldwide ticket sales) Wonder Woman movie directed by Patty Jenkins, where she plays Venelia, the right hand of Queen Hippolyta and one of the fierce female warriors known as the Amazons who inhabit Diana Prince’s (played by Israeli actress and fashion model Gal Gadot) all female island home of Themyscira (also known as Paradise island).

Gal Gadot began modeling in the late 2000’s, and made her movie debut in the fourth film of the Fast and Furious franchise, Fast & Furious (2009), as Gisele. Above: What Superman III Was Supposed To Be & What Happened To Brainiac & Supergirl?
Superman III is a British-American 1983 superhero film directed by Richard Lester, based on the DC Comics character Superman. It is the third film in the Superman film series and the last Superman film to be produced by Alexander Salkind and Ilya Salkind. The film features a cast which includes Christopher Reeve, Richard Pryor, Annette O’Toole, Annie Ross, Pamela Stephenson, Robert Vaughn, Marc McClure, and Gavan O’Herlihy. The film is followed by Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, released on July 24, 1987.
Although the film still managed to recoup its budget of $39 million, it was less successful than the first two Superman movies, both financially and critically. While harsh criticism focused on the film’s comedic and campy tone, as well as the casting and performance of Pryor, the special effects and Christopher Reeve’s performance as a temporarily corrupted Superman were praised.
