Angola is officially known as the Republic of Angola and is a country in Southern Africa. It is the seventh largest country in Africa, and is bordered by Namibia to the south, the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the north, Zambia to the east, and the Atlantic Ocean to west. The capital and largest city is Luanda.

The standard of living in Angola remains low for the majority of the population, and life expectancy and infant mortality rates in Angola are among the worst in the world. In addition, the majority of the wealth in Angola is concentrated in a disproportionately small sector of the population.

Angola currently has over 24.3 million people that span various tribal groups, customs, and traditions. The official language of Angola is Portuguese due to the fact that it was a Portuguese colony until 1975 (that same year Angola descended into an intense civil war that lasted until 2002). Angola is currently the deadliest place in the world for kids and the most dangerous country in Africa for children.
