Dolce & Gabbana Spring / Summer 2011 Fashion Show – Milan Fashion Week 2011

Modeling for Milan Fashion Week is considered one of the highest achievements that a high fashion runway model can obtain throughout her modeling career. Walking in Milan for Dolce & Gabbana is the stuff of legends that takes a model from mere mortal to potential supermodel realm (assuming she is not a supermodel yet). ZARZAR MODELING AGENCY takes you to Milan, Italy in order to witness one of the most prestigious fashion shows on planet earth: the Dolce & Gabbana Spring / Summer 2011 Fashion Show!

Dolce & Gabbana is an Italian luxury fashion house. The company was started in 1985 by the Italian designers Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana in Milan, Italy. The company’s products include luxury clothing, footwear, handbags, and sunglasses.

Dolce & Gabbana has two central lines with a few key distinct differences:

Dolce&Gabbana

Dolce&Gabbana (spelled without spaces, unlike the name of the company) specializes in luxury items influenced more by designers and is more formal and timeless, responding to long term trends rather than seasonal changes. It also sells sunglasses and corrective eyewear, purses, and watches. In February 2010, it was announced that singer Madonna would design a collection of sunglasses set to be released in May of that year. They also have a set of fragrances for men and women.

D&G

D&G is a slightly more casual line that follows an urban inspiration and attempts to set trends rather than follow them. It is the younger, more flamboyant line of the brand. Like Dolce&Gabbana, D&G sells watches as well as clothing, and have been voted the United Kingdom’s best luxury brand. In 2005 and 2006, a limited line of 1000 golden D&G Motorola RAZR mobile phones was distributed by D&G boutiques and major Motorola retailers. In July 2009 D&G signed a lucrative deal with singer Alexandra Burke which will see her model their fashion lines in her music videos and in promotions.

Casting Lingerie Models For The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2010

It is not just the sexiest night on television for thousands of hopefuls, it is the modeling dream of a lifetime. But with only 33 spots and a minute to make an impression, competition and nerves run high. Get a casting director’s eye view of the 2010 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

Victoria’s Secret was started in San Francisco, California, in 1977 by Stanford Graduate School of Business alumnus Roy Raymond, who felt embarrassed trying to purchase lingerie for his wife in a department store environment. He opened the first store at Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto, and quickly followed it with a mail order catalog and three other stores.

The stores were meant to create a comfortable environment for men, with wood paneled walls, Victorian details and helpful sales staff. Instead of racks of bras and panties in every size, there were single styles, paired together and mounted on the wall in frames. Men could browse for styles for women and sales staff would help estimate the appropriate size, pulling from inventory in the back rooms. In 1982, after five years of operations, Roy Raymond sold the company to The Limited. Raymond’s next business venture ended in bankruptcy. Raymond committed suicide by jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco in 1993.

The Limited kept the personalized image of Victoria’s Secret intact. Victoria’s Secret was rapidly expanded into the U.S. malls throughout the 1980s. The company was able to offer a widened range of products, such as shoes, evening wear, and perfumes, with its mail catalog issued eight times annually.

By the early 1990s, Victoria’s Secret had become the largest American lingerie retailer, topping one billion United States Dollars.

Beginning in 1995, Victoria’s Secret began holding the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which is broadcasted primetime on American television. The show is a lavish event with elaborate costumed lingerie, varying music, and set design according to the different themes running within the show. The show attracts hundreds of celebrities and entertainers, with special performers and/or acts every year.

How Much Money Do Models Really Earn Or Make Per Day?

Many people often wonder how much models really earn or make per day for each modeling assignment, specially young models considering a career in high fashion modeling. In an effort to educate the public and those that are considering entering the modeling industry as high fashion models, editorial models, and runway models ZARZAR MODELING AGENCY known throughout the world as simply ZARZAR MODELS has created this informative article for those that are simply just wondering…

How Much Money Do Models Really Earn Or Make Per Day?

Let us start with New York City, the fashion capital of the United States of America:

The rates are highest in New York City where it is not unusual for a model to make $5,000 to $6,000 for an 8 hour day. That comes out to $750 per hour in United States Dollars. Now add the dollar amount earned for high fashion modeling to the prestige, glamour, and excitement of doing high fashion campaigns for Gucci, Prada, and Ralph Lauren and the rewards are priceless. Also, many top models charge a flat daily rate which means that if a client finishes early, the model is free to leave and actually earns more than $750 per hour! Thus, real modeling rates are more like $1,000.00 per hour for many New York models!

In most other markets within the United States such as Los Angeles and Miami the day rates for modeling are more like $1,500 to $2,000 per day. That comes out to $250 per hour in United States Dollars. However, even in these markets if a client is extremely interested in a model they will pay the higher New York City modeling rates. Thus, it is very common for a ZARZAR MODEL based in Beverly Hills or Los Angeles to earn over $2,000.00 per day at a minimum, and even ZARZAR MODELS based in San Diego, Southern California (where the fashion market is not as strong as Los Angeles and New York) can easily command modeling rates upward of $1,100.00 per day.

In most other markets not mentioned above the hourly rate can be around $150 United States Dollars and usually with some minimum amount of hours, such as a 4 hour minimum (half a day rate) as determined by the model’s agency. For example, if a client wishes to book a ZARZAR MODEL the minimum rate will be the half day rate even if they need the model for only 2 or 3 hours in order to protect the model’s earning power (this is because a 2 hour booking at noon can prevent a model from earning the full day rate somewhere else with a different fashion client). These rates are for what is called “print modeling” which includes magazine advertisements, catalogs, and brochures.

The World’s Top Earning Models – No. 6 Natalia Vodianova $5.5 Million Per Year

The supermodel with the fastest rise to the top of the industry is indisputably Natalia Vodianova. She continues her blue chip legacy with past work for Vuitton as well as representing Chanel beauty, even as her Calvin Euphoria fragrance contract continues its run. She will always be most wanted.

The new hire of French lingerie company Etam still works for mother Russia through her charitable foundation.

Natalia Vodianova is one of the clearest examples of rags to riches: She was raised in an impoverished family in Russia before becoming an international model. In addition to her work for Calvin Klein fragrance, Guerlain and jeweler Jacob & Co., the 27 year old signed a three year contract with Etam. She is the brand’s ambassador and will also design a collection each season. She runs the Naked Heart Foundation, a charity that raises money to provide playgrounds in Russia.

Born in Gorky USSR (now Nizhny Novgorod, Russia), Natalia Vodianova grew up in a poor district of the city with her mother and two half sisters, one of whom has cerebral palsy. As a teenager, Vodianova helped her mother sell fruit on the street and later set up her own fruit stand with a friend to help her family out of poverty. Natalia Vodianova’s father walked out on the family when Natalia was a toddler, and she did not have any further contact with him until after she had become famous.

At the age of 15, Vodianova enrolled in a modeling academy and was told she would need to learn English to succeed, and mastered the language in three months. By the age of 17, Vodianova had moved to Paris in order to continue her modeling career.

Natalia Vodianova has achieved considerable success as a runway, editorial and advertising campaign model. To date, Vodianova has walked in more than 175 runway shows for U.S. and European based designers’ ready to wear and haute couture collections, has appeared in editorial spreads in fashion magazines worldwide and has completed advertising campaigns for Calvin Klein, Louis Vuitton, Yves Saint Laurent, L’Oreal, David Yurman, Marc Jacobs, Pepe Jeans, Diane Von Furstenberg, Chanel, Guerlain, and many others.

Natalia Vodianova has appeared on the cover of British Vogue seven times; the first was the September 2003 issue. She made her first appearance on the cover of the U.S. Vogue in the September 2004 edition alongside eight other models, then appeared as the solo cover subject of the July 2007 edition of the magazine. During this time period, other covers of the American Vogue have all featured non-model celebrities with only two other exceptions: models Linda Evangelista and Liya Kebede.
